"Basketball 4 DtoD" allows player to work on offensive and defensive tactics and transition. The Coach starts the drill by dumping a puck into the zone. Two or three players from each color enter the game. The first team that touches the puck attempts to score. If the defending team steals the puck they must transition with one of their two d-man standing on the blue line, prior to going on offence. These D can shoot, pass or go D to D. Shifts should be 30-40 seconds.
Teaching Points
Offensive: Attack triangles to provide the puck carrier with multiple options. Deceptive passing and look-aways to create passing lanes. Avoid forced pucks into closed lanes (especially on passes to the D pairs). Work with the defensemen on back door shooting, shot passes and tipable pucks. Defensive: Two or three 1vs1's.
Defensive side body position, Tight gap on pass options to eliminate time and space. Bodies in the shooting lanes and stay square.
