"Big Pig" is a passing, puck patience and puck support drill for all levels. Three players work together and move the puck while strategically skating around the face-off circle. The "Big Pig" chases and attempts to steal the puck. The player that makes the error and turns the puck over becomes the "Big Pig". If the "Big Pig" tires and cannot get the puck the coach rotates the players accordingly. Use as a station or run on multiple circles simultaneously.
Teaching Points
Offensive Players: Open Belly Support, Stick on the ice and blade square to the puck, deceptive passing with lookaways to fool the "Big Pig".
Defensive Player: Anticipation skills, stick position in front of the body and easily maneuverable, explosive agility to close passing lanes.
