"Electric Chair'", is an outstanding conditioning drill which demands hockey sense and read and react skills. The drill challenges players in a 2vs2 or 3vs3 full ice game. Players change on the coaches' whistle which is every 30 seconds. When this occurs they leave the puck and back check to the bench hard which allows the next players to begin. A drill like this is much better received than the typical "bag skate" if you are looking to work on conditioning in a creative fashion.

Teaching Points

Offensive: Puck management and puck possession are critical keys to success. Ensure passing lanes are open and avoid throwing pucks into closed passing lanes. Defensive; Gap control in all zones. Play man on man and avoid having two players chase the puck carrier. Anticipate and read the play.
