"Great One Passing", works on many aspects of passing in a challenging drill. Players are split into 2-3 player units. The active player must work their way around the four pucks and exchange the puck with the stationary partner. Replace pucks that are knocked out of place as the drill is being executed. Players executed for 15-20 seconds and then switch roles when the coach blows the whistle.
Passing progressions:
1. Carry the puck, tight turn around a selected puck, pass to stationary partner.
2. Random skating and open belly puck exchange with partner.
3. Figure 8 pass exchange while players execute an open pivot.
Teaching Points
Passing: Flat blade on the ice, hands in front of the body, pass without weight transfer and focus on fingers to elbows. Communicate with voice and avoid slapping the stick on the ice. The top passers are wrist passers and don't attempt to slap the puck.
