Ladder Shot Double Dare

Aug. 24, 2020 at 1:23 p.m. MDT

"Ladder Shot Double Dare", is a multi-dimensional drill with many applications. On the whistle, three players begin with a puck on the goal line. One player explodes around cone level one, another to cone level two and the final player to cone level three. Players attack and quick release shoot on the goaltender. The cone levels need to be positioned according to the diagram to allow for the proper shooting stagger to give goaltenders a fair chance. After shots, all three players go under the cone on the opposite side and then pick up pucks and go to the second set of cones. Players go to the same level of cone as they did on the first shot which again creates the stagger. Players then attack goaltender again for the second time.

Teaching Points

Shooting and Attacks: Head up and on the target on all releases. Attempt to shoot while skating and avoid planting feet to shoot. This is a warm up drill so shoot the puck with a purpose and avoid head shots.
