"Net Back Attack 2 " is very similar to "Net Back Attack ", but, the nets are not butted up against one another. Teams are split into two equal colors. Everyone plays and three pucks are always in play. Encourage a "no raise rule" as pucks are flying all over the zone. If a goal is scored the goaltender immediately spots the puck back into play. Cones are placed down the blue line to confine the players from skating all over. Coaches can use tennis balls if they wish which really adds another element of surprise to the drill.
Teaching Points
Offensive: Use the traffic on the ice to your advantage as it can allow you to create time and space by weaving through players and around other 1vs1 battles. Attack seams agressively and use the area behind the net to initiate attacks.
Defensive: Establish your 1vs1's and maintain gap control which takes away time and space. Head is up and on a swivel which helps players develop awareness of what is going on around them.
