"Captain Canada", is a one on one keep away competition within the circle. If the puck is knocked or shot out of the circle the coach quickly feeds in a new one. Battles are to last about twenty seconds and then players rest and are replaced by a new pair. Evasive players who hide the puck with effective body position will have great success.
Teaching Points
Puck Protection; Read the opponents stick and body position. Build walls with the body serving as a shield. Be evasive and creative. Defending; Focus on the body and not the puck. Avoid lunging and the opponent and angle from the middle of the circle. Have your stick on the puck.
