Circle Swarm

"'Circle Swarm", adds a twist to the traditional circle drill. Two players begin (opposite sides), at the same time. They skate 1/2 of the circle only, and intersect throughout the pattern. This drill can be done forwards, backwards and with pivots. After circling 1/2 of the center circle players then attack the goaltenders with purposeful shots prior to returning to their lines. When returning to the line ensure players are tight to the boards and not interfering with the drill.

Teaching Points

Skating; On the circles keep the circles level, neutral spine with upright posture. Step knee over knee on the crossover. Utilize all edges and attempt to stay on the edge of the circle.

Shooting; Head up and on the target. Shoot in stride and strive to pick corners.
