"Pendulum", has player number one standing mid-ice with four pucks at the top of the circle, while player number two faces the others, just outside of the crease. Player one passes to player two who receives the puck and spins one way or the other taking a low shot on net. The goaltender must be allowed to recover and reset before the next pass is made with player two spinning the opposite direction for the second shot. The goaltender will be holding a med ball with player gloves so it is important that the shots stay low.
Teaching Points
-Keep the ball close to the chest for all movement including recovery between shots to focus on lower body and core strength.
-Drive the knees down to create a seal against the ice
-Move in to the puck not just reaching with their legs/feet.
