"Sweet Sevens 1-2-3", is a progression to "Sweet Sevens". On the whistle, both teams send three players out the door to retrieve a puck from the blue line and attack 3vs0, they go until they score. Once they do and the last backchecker is within ten feet of the bench, two players go out. Once they score and return to the bench it is 1vs0. After the 1vs0 scores, teams return to the 3vs0. They continue until all of the pucks are gone. In the 1vs0, a player that cannot score can yell retire and pass their puck to the next player out who continues in the 1vs0 round. Play the best 2 out of 3. Goaltenders will be exhausted. If the goaltender covers the puck players back off
and the goaltenders play the puck to the corner.
Teaching Points
Attack Principles: Attack from various angles, open up the goaltenders with quick and deceptive passing that forces the goaltender to move side to side. Deceptive shooting and deking is key to success. Players are to always be on-side on the rushes or the coach adds an additional puck to their blue line.
